AFC 100 Controller for Bioreactors
The AFC 100 Bioreactor control system is an value-based
solution for data acquisition and control of fermentors and
bioreactors. Applications include energy and biotechnology
applications. Additionally the AFC can be used in application
other fermentation or cell-culture, this can include remote IO,
temperature control, pH control, DO control, ORP data
acquisition, and general raw-analog-to-scaled-analog and
analog-to-digital.

- 4 analog outputs to transmit calibrated measurements
or to control agitator motors, gas flow controllers, etc.
- 4 SSR relays, to control pumps for pH control, heater
blanket, or ILS water box (heating/cooling) for jacket
reactors.
- External communication is through Modbus RS485 serial
communication. For easy Ethernet communication a
Kepware Modbus OPC server configuration notes and
file is available from ILS.

Control
The ILS AFC 100 controller offers a

through its built-in relay by turning
on/off an external hearting/cooling
devices (heating blanket or water
valve/heater) The AFC 100 can
also control pH by turning on/off
pumps. The AFC 100 can also
change agitation RPM and/or gas
flow through its analog outputs for
DO control.
Data acquisition is simple through
the Modbus serial interface. The
Kepware Modbus OPC server and
related tools can easily
communicate to the AFC 100 for
remote data acquisition and control.
The AFC is fully compatible with the
ILS Batch Expert SCADA and other
3rd party PLC or SCADA systems
such as Labview.
